Chevening Scholarship/Fellowship

Chevening-fellowship

Each year the British Government offers a small number of places for postgraduate study in Britain under the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Chevening Scholarship Scheme. The aim of Chevening Scholarships is to bring the most able future leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers to the UK for a period of postgraduate study. The Embassy is looking for dynamic young people with exceptional talent, who want to commit to a career in Azerbaijan. Most Chevening scholars attend a university or higher education institution in the UK to undertake a one year Master's course or a three-year PhD.

The British Council in Azerbaijan administers the Chevening Scholarship programme in Azerbaijan.
The Embassy plays an integral role in selecting successful candidates. For more information on the next application round click here.

What is a Sports Administration Chevening Scholarship?

The British Chevening Scholarships are prestigious awards designed to enable overseas students to study in the United Kingdom. The Scholarships are funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). They are on offer in more than 150 countries, including Azerbaijan, and enable future leaders, decision makers and opinion formers from around the world to become familiar with the UK and to gain skills which will benefit their countries.

Most scholarships are for one year Master's courses or equivalent. Awards may also be given for shorter vocational courses lasting between 3 and 6 months. In Azerbaijan, over 50 scholars have been to the UK under the British Chevening Scholarships scheme since 1993. Three scholars from Azerbaijan are currently studying in the UK for the current academic year.

Sport Administration Chevening Scholarship is the first time awarded within International Inspiration programme. Delivering the ambitions promised by the London bid team in Singapore, the programme aims to “reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Olympic Games so they are inspired to choose sport.” The programme uses the power of sport to transform the lives of millions of children and young people in developing countries. You can find further information at Chevening website.
