Changes to British Embassy Visa Section Procedures (13/01/2009)
To help speed up the visa application process and provide an enhanced service to our customers, the British Embassy Visa Section will be introducing new procedures from Monday 27 October 2008.
- In order to help us process your application as quickly as possible, you must now submit all supporting documents at the same time as your application form. Visa section staff will no longer contact applicants to ask for additional documents if they have not already provided the documents at the time of application. The Entry Clearance Officer will make a decision to issue or refuse your visa, based on your application form and any documents you do submit. Applications submitted without supporting documents would in most cases be refused.
- It is up to you to show as much evidence as you can of your own personal circumstances. This includes your employment; studies; financial circumstances; any assets that you own; details of travel outside Azerbaijan; details of your family members in Azerbaijan and overseas (for example parents and siblings). If someone else is paying for your trip, or sponsoring you in another way, it would be helpful to see the same kind of evidence relating to that person too.
- All supporting documents must now be translated into English. The translations do not need to be notarised, but you must submit an English translation of every document you submit with your application. Documents that have not been translated will not be considered as part of your application. This may harm your chances of receiving a visa.
- Photographs that do not conform to the standard required will be rejected and you will have to re-apply for a UK visa. A passport sized colour photo taken within the last 6 months and with dimensions of 45mm x 35mm must be included with the application. This must be on a white background, and should be glued to the application form. Please do not staple the photo onto the form.
- You can only book one appointment per person – if you book more than one per person, the British Embassy may cancel all of them without informing you. This is to prevent people making bulk bookings and preventing other customers from being able to make their own appointments.
- It is essential that you keep your receipts. All passports must be collected in person upon presentation of the receipt that was given to you when you submitted your application. Should you be unable to collect your passport in person, you must give to your nominated representative a completed consent form and the receipt. This will allow your representative to collect the passport on your behalf. The consent form will be passed to you when you apply for your visa.
