Business opportunities
Britain is the largest single foreign investor in Azerbaijan. We would like to see that increase, and welcome measures to improve the business climate in Azerbaijan, particularly in the non oil and gas sector. UK in Azerbaijan
The British Embassy in Baku represents the British Government in Azerbaijan. Its role is to liaise with the Azerbaijani government and institutions on behalf of UK institutions and government departments, and to deliver the UK’s international priorities.
Declan Byrne, Second Secretary Political heads the political section , which reports on political and economic issues to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. We liaise with the government, parliament, political parties, academics, journalists, NGOs and others on internal and foreign policy issues, including economic issues and human rights.
Currently our main priorities are to support Azerbaijan’s program of democratic reforms and aspirations towards greater partnership with the European Union and NATO, and to help Azerbaijan meet the obligations of membership of the Council of Europe.
Chevening scholarship
The aim of Chevening Scholarships is to bring the most able future leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers to the UK for a period of postgraduate study.

Ms Sian MacLeod OBE has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Czech Republic. She will take up her appointment during July 2009.
Change of British High Commissioner to Malta
